Public swimming runs to a timetable, not to your schedule
Dutch public pools divide the week between swimming lessons, clubs, aqua classes and public sessions, and a visitor can only use the last of these. Look up the pool's rooster, the weekly timetable, and find banenzwemmen for lane swimming or recreatief zwemmen for open play. Turning up outside those slots usually means watching a children's lesson through the glass. Many of the rows in this set are swim schools and clubs, which teach but do not sell a single swim to the public.
