Courses run in terms, but socials run every week
Most Amsterdam dance schools sell courses in blocks that start after the summer holidays and again in January, and a course is not something you can join halfway through a Tuesday. What a visitor wants is either a proefles, a trial lesson that many schools offer for a small fee, or the weekly social, where a short beginners' lesson often comes before the open dancing. Tango calls its socials milongas; salsa just calls them socials. Message the school the same day and ask which of the two is on tonight.
