How does NUM choose three places?
It reads what you asked, where you are and what is open, and answers from its own directory of 2.7M+ places. Nobody can pay to be in the answer. If it has nothing good, it says so instead of making something up.
Who checks the places?
A place is claimed when its owner proves control of the contact already published on it. Until then it is mapped, and NUM tells you which. Every rating is tied to a booking the guest made.
