Summer playground hours are early and late
From June to September the sun makes a Barcelona playground unusable in the middle of the day: metal slides heat up and many small squares have little tree cover. Local families come out before eleven and again after six, when squares fill with children until well after dark. The city has a large network of public drinking fountains, so refilling water is rarely a problem. Dogs are not allowed inside fenced children's play areas. Many playgrounds post an age range at the gate.
