阿姆斯特丹許多出租自行車是靠往後踩踏板來煞車，也就是 terugtraprem（倒踩煞車），完全沒有手煞車。騎走之前先問清楚，並先在安靜的街道上練習停車。荷蘭法律不要求戴安全帽，但規定天黑後必須有可正常使用的車燈，而且自 2019 年 7 月起，騎車時手持手機就屬違規。至於押金，刷卡預授權或付現金押金都很常見；交出護照則是你不應該答應的事。改為提供信用卡和護照資料頁的照片，如果店家堅持，就換一家。
