Ajman is a coastal city on the Gulf between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain, ruled by the Al Nuaimi family since 1816. It is smaller and quieter than its neighbors. Visitors come for its beach, corniche, old fort and the mangroves at Al Zorah.

Getting there
Ajman has no airport. Sharjah International (SHJ) is the closest, and Dubai International (DXB) is also nearby. Taxis run from both. Dubai RTA intercity buses run from Union Square and Etisalat stations in Dubai to Ajman bus station.
Getting around
The Ajman Transport Authority runs city buses and taxis, and abras (small boats) stop along the coast, including at Al Rashidiya. Most visitors use taxis or ride-hailing.
When to go
November to March, when daytime highs rarely pass 30 C. July and August are the hottest months, often above 40 C and humid. Most of the little rain falls in winter and spring. Ramadan dates move earlier each year.
Local tip
Ajman Museum, Souk Saleh and the Gold Souq face each other on the central square. All three are a short walk from the corniche.
