Delete your Num account

You can delete your Num account yourself, from inside the app, in under a minute. Nobody has to approve it and you do not have to ask us.

How to delete it

This applies to the Num app, published by 5arz, on iPhone, Android and the web.

  1. Open Num and go to your profile. Tap your name at the top of the app.
  2. Tap “Delete my account”. It is the red row near the bottom of the profile list. Num takes you straight to the confirmation.
  3. Read what is about to go. Under the heading DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT, Num lists exactly what is attached to your account — friends, plans, messages, Stars — before anything is touched.
  4. Type DELETE in the box. Nothing is removed until you do. This is the last point at which you can stop.
  5. Tap “DELETE EVERYTHING”. The account and everything listed below are removed from our database straight away, and the app returns to the sign-in screen. There is no waiting period and no undo.

If you cannot get into the app

Email info@itsnum.com from the email address on the account, or tell us the phone number you signed up with, and ask us to delete it. We will confirm it is really you before we do anything, then delete the account and write back to say it is done.

Two things Num asks you to settle first

Only two situations hold deletion up, and both are there to protect somebody other than you. You can clear either one yourself, without contacting us.

Nothing else blocks deletion. In particular, holding a Stars balance does not stop you leaving.

What you give up by leaving

Any Stars on the account go with it. Stars cannot be refunded, cashed out or moved to another account, so spend them before you delete if you want the value. Num tells you your balance and makes you acknowledge this before it removes anything.

What is deleted

All of this is removed from Num’s live database at the moment you confirm.

Who you areYour member record, name and profile. Your phone number, and any Google or Apple sign-in linked to the account.
PeopleYour friends and connections, everyone you have blocked, and every direct message you have sent or received.
PlansPlans you created, including their items, events and guest lists. Plans you only joined lose you as a member.
What Num knew about youEverything you ever asked Num, the facts it remembered about you, your usage history, the places you were shown, and your sign-in history.
Messages to youYour inbox, your notifications and your push subscriptions, so the app stops being able to reach your device.
Balances and statusYour Stars balance, your memberships, your event and attendee entries, and your record as a Num scout if you had one.

What is kept, and why

Two narrow categories survive deletion. We would rather tell you exactly what they are than say “everything is deleted” and be wrong.

Financial recordsPayments, commissions, cash-outs, tab settlements and the Stars ledger. Money that actually moved has to stay recorded — we are required to keep these for tax and accounting purposes, and they are what makes it possible to answer a question about a past charge. They are kept only for as long as those obligations require, and no longer.
Records that belong to someone else tooA settled tab or a completed errand involved another person. Their copy of that history stays intact, because deleting it would rewrite their records, not just yours.

These records no longer point at you. Once your member record is gone, what remains is not attached to your name, your phone number or your email. It is a financial entry with no person on the end of it.

Everything else in the table above this one is gone, permanently, and cannot be restored by us or recovered by you.

Deleting some of your data without deleting the account

Num does not currently offer a way to erase part of your history and keep the account. If there is something specific you want removed, email info@itsnum.com and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it.
