Does my phone support eSIM? The five-second test

November 2, 2026

Open your phone app and dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, your phone takes an eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked, so a phone tied to a contract may need its carrier to unlock it first.

iPhone

Every iPhone from the XR and XS (2018) on takes an eSIM, and so does the SE from 2020. Most iPhones sold in mainland China don’t. To check the lock, open Settings, then General, then About: Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”.

Android

Google Pixel 3 and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later (not US S20 models), Note 20, and every Z Fold and Z Flip take an eSIM. So do many recent Motorola, OPPO, Xiaomi and other phones, so run the *#06# test if yours isn’t listed.

Still not sure?

Text PHONE and your model to +1 (424) 346-0888 and we’ll check it. Then pick your destination.
