- 세운옥상 — The rooftop of Sewoon Sangga, the 1960s electronics arcade in Jongno. Free, rarely crowded, and the view runs north over the Jongmyo shrine forest and south to N Seoul Tower — one of the best low-key views in the city. (37.5695, 126.9952)
- 북촌1경 : 창덕궁전경 — Bukchon's View No. 1: the roofs of Changdeokgung palace seen from the hill in Wonseo-dong. The first of Bukchon's eight numbered viewpoints, and the one with the palace in it. (37.5793, 126.9884)
- 북촌4경 : 가회동 31번지 언덕 — View No. 4, the hill at 31 Gahoe-dong, looking out over a sea of tiled hanok roofs toward downtown. Come in the daytime visiting window, and keep your voice down: people live in every one of those houses. (37.5826, 126.9831)

Bukchon has visiting hours now, and they are enforced
Bukchon Hanok Village is a lived-in neighbourhood, and since 1 March 2025 the busiest part of it — the red zone around Bukchon-ro 11-gil, where several of the numbered viewpoints are — is closed to tourists from 5 pm to 10 am, with a fine of ₩100,000 for visiting outside those hours. Plan Bukchon for late morning or early afternoon, and save sunset for elsewhere: the Sewoon rooftop downtown is free, open into the evening, and looks over Jongmyo toward N Seoul Tower as the city lights come on.
