- Albert Cuyp-markt — The big one in De Pijp, open Monday to Saturday. Go for stroopwafels made to order, cheap fabric and a sense of the neighbourhood, and arrive before lunch when the aisle is still walkable. (52.3561, 4.8950)
- Dappermarkt — Oost's daily market, Monday to Saturday, cheaper and far less touristy than Albert Cuyp. Turkish, Surinamese and Moroccan stalls sit next to the Dutch cheese man. (52.3631, 4.9273)
- Noordermarkt — Two markets in one square. Saturday is the organic farmers' market, and Monday morning is a textile and second-hand market that spills along Westerstraat. (52.3794, 4.8868)
- Waterloopleinmarkt — The flea market beside the Stopera, Monday to Saturday. Vintage clothes, bike bits, old records; bargain, politely. (52.3686, 4.9012)
- Bloemenmarkt — The flower market along the Singel, with its stalls on barges. Bulbs and souvenirs more than cut flowers these days; if you are flying outside the EU, buy bulbs with an export certificate. (52.3670, 4.8914)
- IJ-Hallen — A huge flea market in the old shipyard halls at NDSM, held on one weekend a month with an entrance fee. Take the free ferry across the IJ from behind Centraal. (52.4013, 4.8966)

Sunday is when the street markets stop
The neighbourhood street markets (Albert Cuyp, Dappermarkt, Ten Kate, Waterlooplein) all trade Monday to Saturday and shut on Sunday. Saturday is the strongest day everywhere, and the organic farmers' markets cluster on it too, at Noordermarkt and Nieuwmarkt. Monday morning is the day for textiles and second-hand goods at Noordermarkt. Sundays belong to the pop-ups and the monthly events, so check the date for IJ-Hallen before crossing the water. Many stalls now take cards, but a few small traders still prefer cash.
