Dutch tennis is a club game first
Most tennis courts in the Netherlands belong to clubs affiliated with the national federation, the KNLTB, and are for members and their guests. Membership runs by the season and there is usually a waiting list in Amsterdam. For a visitor, the route in is either an indoor centre or park operation that rents courts by the hour, or a member who can bring you as an introducé for a small fee. Racquet hire is not something to count on; bring your own or ask when you book. Outdoor clubs mostly play on artificial clay from spring to autumn.
