- El Turó de la Rovira — The Carmel bunkers, a civil-war anti-aircraft battery on a bare hilltop with the whole city in a circle. A steep last stretch on foot from the bus; the site is now closed at night, so check the posted hours before a sunset trip. (41.4194, 2.1617)
- Mirador del Migdia — On the far side of Montjuïc, looking south-west over the sea and the port. Quieter than the city-facing viewpoints and the one to choose for the sun going down over water. (41.3584, 2.1593)
- Mirador de Miramar — On Montjuïc at the top of the harbour cable car, looking straight down on the port and Barceloneta. Arrive by cable car and walk down through the gardens. (41.3712, 2.1721)
- Mirador Torre Glòries — A paid observation deck at the top of the Torre Glòries tower, with a climbable net installation inside. The view without a hill, and the one to choose in bad weather. (41.4035, 2.1895)
- Mirador del Sagrat Cor — On Tibidabo, the highest point above the city, at the temple on the summit. It takes the longest to reach; go on a clear day or not at all. (41.4218, 2.1190)

Face the direction the sun is going
Barcelona sits between the sea to the south-east and Collserola to the north-west, so the direction a viewpoint faces decides the hour. Tibidabo and the Carmel bunkers look down on the whole city and are best in the late afternoon with the sun behind you lighting the grid. Montjuïc's Migdia side faces the sea and suits sunset. Mornings belong to the sea-facing points on the waterfront. Haze builds over the city in summer afternoons; clear days after rain or wind give the long views to the mountains.
