Say you have got next
Public courts in New York's parks are free and first come; nobody hands out slots. Pickup runs on winner stays on: walk up, ask who has next, and if no one does, say I got next and pick up a team from the people waiting. Games usually run to a set score rather than a clock, and you call your own fouls. City parks close at 1am unless a sign says otherwise, but floodlights are not universal, so a court that is busy at dusk may be dark an hour later.
