The name on the door is not always where the beer is made
In New York the word brewery on a sign covers two very different places. Several Brooklyn and Queens brewers now run satellite taprooms in Manhattan — near Grand Central, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Brookfield Place — that serve the beer but brew none of it. If you want to see tanks and smell the mash, cross the river to the original site. Tours are not a given at either kind; many breweries only run them on certain days or not at all, so check with the brewery. You will be asked for photo ID showing you are 21 at the door or the bar, whatever your age looks like.
