Worth knowing

The details for an American passport.

On the Omani MFA's 14-day list. The State Dept page (last updated Jul 2023) still says to apply for an eVisa in advance; the Omani MFA page is newer and authoritative. Conditions (Omani MFA, page updated 22 Sep 2026): passport valid 6+ months, return ticket, confirmed hotel reservation, health insurance and enough money for the stay. The 14 days cannot be extended or converted. For longer stays, get an ROP eVisa (Tourist Visit Visa, Unsponsored) before travel; FCDO says a visit visa can also be bought on arrival at airports, but recommends applying online. Also eligible for the Qatar-Oman joint tourist visa (30 days, multiple entry, issued on arrival).

At least 6 months. Omani MFA (14-day exemption): passport valid for no less than six months. FCDO (updated 7 Oct 2026): expiry at least 6 months after arrival; entry refused without a valid travel document. State Dept: 6 months.
