Half of Rome's cheap beds come with a curfew
Scroll this list and you will see casa per ferie, istituto, residenza and centro pellegrini. These are guesthouses run by religious orders and pilgrim organisations, and they are some of the quietest and cleanest cheap beds in the city, often in central buildings. The trade-off is house rules: many lock the front door at a set hour in the evening, some separate men and women, and breakfast is early. Read the curfew line before booking. Separately, every bed in Rome, hostels included, pays the city tourist tax per person per night, usually collected at the desk rather than in the price you saw online.
