Face the direction the sun is going
Barcelona sits between the sea to the south-east and Collserola to the north-west, so the direction a viewpoint faces decides the hour. Tibidabo and the Carmel bunkers look down on the whole city and are best in the late afternoon with the sun behind you lighting the grid. Montjuïc's Migdia side faces the sea and suits sunset. Mornings belong to the sea-facing points on the waterfront. Haze builds over the city in summer afternoons; clear days after rain or wind give the long views to the mountains.
