Nearly every Berlin beer garden is a fair-weather business
Berlin beer gardens are mostly seasonal. The usual pattern is spring to early autumn, with opening decided by the weather as much as the date: a cold, wet day in May can mean shutters down, and a warm October weekend can keep one going. Once the season ends the terrace generally closes, though a few operations carry on indoors. Expect a Pfand, a deposit on glasses and sometimes on jugs, added to the first round and refunded when you hand them back at the counter. Most are self-service: queue, pay, carry.
