- Columbiahalle — A mid-sized standing hall by the old Tempelhof airfield, the usual Berlin stop for touring bands too big for a club and too small for an arena. A plain, practical room where the sightlines matter more than the décor. (52.4846, 13.3924)
- Festsaal Kreuzberg — Indie concerts, readings and the odd party in a converted industrial building on the Flutgraben canal in Treptow. Expect a gig-shaped evening with a normal start time, not a club night. (52.4994, 13.4205)
- Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall — The smaller sibling of the Philharmonie, same architectural language, seating arranged around the stage. For string quartets and song recitals; book ahead and arrive before the bell, as latecomers wait. (52.5546, 13.4063)
- Ausland — A small cellar room in Prenzlauer Berg devoted to experimental, improvised and odd music. Tiny audiences, low ticket prices, and the kind of night you tell people about afterwards or leave after twenty minutes. (52.5449, 13.4193)
- Kirche von Unten (KvU) — A long-standing DIY venue with roots in the East Berlin punk and church-opposition scene of the 1980s. Punk, hardcore and benefit shows, volunteer-run, and very much not a place to arrive expecting a bouncer's velvet rope. (52.5355, 13.4519)
- Zukunft am Ostkreuz — Cinema, bar, beer garden and a stage in one scruffy compound by Ostkreuz station. A good bet for a relaxed evening where the concert is only part of it. (52.5016, 13.4656)

Einlass is not Beginn
Berlin tickets list two times. Einlass is when the doors open; Beginn is when the music starts, and the gap is often an hour. For concerts in halls and gig venues that start time is honoured closely — a 20:00 Beginn means the support act is on at 20:00. Clubs run on a different clock altogether and advertised times there are a rough suggestion. If a listing gives only one time, it is usually Einlass, so the band will not be on stage when you arrive.
