- Flohmarkt am Mauerpark — The Sunday one everybody has heard of, on the strip of park where the Wall ran. Go before noon for the stalls; stay for the afternoon if you want the crowd, the buskers and the open-air karaoke in the amphitheatre when it runs. (52.5414, 13.4023)
- Markthalle Neun — A restored nineteenth-century market hall in Kreuzberg with produce and bakers during the week. Street Food Thursday is held here in the evenings, which is when the hall is at its fullest. (52.5022, 13.4315)
- Wochenmarkt am Maybachufer — The canal-side market on the Neukölln bank of the Landwehrkanal, still called the Turkish market by most Berliners. Cheap produce, bolts of fabric, olives by the scoop, and very little room to move at lunchtime. (52.4952, 13.4229)
- Wochenmarkt Winterfeldtplatz — Schöneberg's big square market, on Saturdays and a smaller version midweek. The Saturday one is as much a neighbourhood breakfast as a shop, so arrive hungry. (52.4968, 13.3543)
- Antik & Buchmarkt am Bodemuseum — Books, prints and old cameras laid out along the Spree opposite Museum Island at weekends. Small, slow and one of the few markets in Mitte that locals browse too. (52.5215, 13.3932)

Sunday is flea-market day because the shops are shut
Germany's shop-closing laws keep most shops shut on Sundays, and Berlin fills the gap with flea markets — the Flohmarkt or Trödelmarkt is a Sunday habit here, not a tourist event. Produce markets work the other way: the Wochenmarkt (weekly market) runs on fixed weekdays and Saturdays, usually from morning until early afternoon, and the Ökomarkt is the organic version. So a Sunday visitor wants the flea markets, and anyone after fruit, cheese or bread wants a weekday. Bring cash and small notes; many stalls still take nothing else.
