- Privatbrauerei Am Rollberg GmbH — Brews in the old Kindl brewery complex in Neukölln. Worth knowing because the site itself, now also an arts centre, is one of the more striking pieces of industrial architecture in the city. (52.4793, 13.4312)

Berliner Weisse was never meant to be a green syrup drink
Berliner Weisse is a light, sour wheat beer that was once the city's everyday drink. In pubs it is usually served mit Schuss, with a shot of raspberry syrup (red) or woodruff syrup (green) to soften the sourness, often in a wide bowl glass and sometimes with a straw. That sweetened version is what most visitors meet, and it is a long way from the real thing. A handful of Berlin brewers now make it traditionally again, tart and dry, and it is worth ordering one straight, without syrup, at least once.
