A chocolatier is not the same as a chocolate maker
Almost nobody in this list roasts cocoa beans. A chocolate maker turns beans into chocolate; a chocolatier buys finished couverture and turns it into pralines, truffles and bars. Both can be excellent, but a Berlin page like this mixes old praline houses, brand boutiques and resellers of boxed chocolate. If you want something made in Berlin, ask in the shop whether the pralines are made on site or in their own workshop, which is a question good shops are happy to answer.
