In a traditional Berlin Kneipe, you often sit down, order at the table and keep a running tab; the server marks your drinks and you settle when you leave. Expect the question zusammen oder getrennt?, together or separately, and say the amount you want to pay, rounded up for the tip, rather than leaving coins on the table. Irish pubs here usually work the other way, ordering and paying at the bar. Card acceptance has improved, but carrying some cash in Berlin pubs is still wise.
