- Stadtbad Mitte James Simon — A 50-metre pool in a light-filled 1930 hall a short walk from the Nordbahnhof. The serious lane-swimmer's choice in the centre. (52.5294, 13.3928)
- Stadtbad Charlottenburg — Two halls, one of them from the 1890s with its original tiled interior. One of the oldest working public baths in Berlin, and a pleasure to swim in even slowly. (52.5145, 13.3096)
- SSE Schwimm- und Sprunghalle im Europa-Sportpark — The large competition pool and diving hall on Landsberger Allee, built in the late 1990s. Big, modern and less atmospheric, but plenty of water when the old baths are crowded. (52.5292, 13.4526)
- Sommerbad Kreuzberg — The outdoor pool everyone calls the Prinzenbad, open in summer only. On a hot Saturday half of Kreuzberg is on its lawns. (52.4978, 13.4057)
- Berliner Bäder-Betriebe Freibad Plötzensee — A lake beach in Wedding rather than a pool, with sand, a roped swimming area and a summer-only season. Pay at the entrance like a pool. (52.5417, 13.3315)

The timetable matters more than the address
Most public pools here are run by the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe, and indoor halls are shared between schools, clubs and the public. That means public swimming (öffentliches Schwimmen) happens in set windows, which differ day to day and shrink in summer when the outdoor Sommerbäder open. Check the day's timetable for the specific pool before you go. Since 2023 anyone may swim topless in Berlin's public pools, a rule change the Bäder-Betriebe made after a discrimination complaint.
