Verified means NUM read it on a government page on 10–11 Oct 2026. Likely means a reputable source says it and one official page agreed. Not checked yet means NUM could not confirm it: use the official page. Fees are as published on that date and can change.

For every visitor

The rules everyone meets at the border

Passport

Brazil itself requires a passport valid for the stay (US State Dept: valid on entry; Canada: valid for duration of stay). UK FCDO states 6 months from arrival. Safest: 6 months. Safe standard: 6 months left on the day you arrive.

Arrival card

No arrival card for most visitors.

Border systems for every visitor

No ETA scheme. Visa-required nationals (incl. US, Canada, Australia since 10 Apr 2025) need a visa or e-visa before boarding; airlines check.

Onward ticket

Officials may ask for a return/onward ticket.

Proof of funds

Officials may ask for proof of sufficient funds for the stay.

Travel insurance

Not required for visitors; recommended.

Vaccinations

No vaccination required for entry; yellow fever vaccine not required but recommended for many areas (give at least 10 days before travel). Some onward destinations/airlines may ask for a yellow fever certificate after visiting Brazil.

Cash to declare at customs

Declare cash/travellers cheques of USD 10,000 or more (or equivalent) on entry and exit (e-DBV online declaration).

Taxes, levies and fees

No national entry/departure tax beyond airport fees in the ticket. Some destinations levy local environmental fees (e.g., Fernando de Noronha TPA, other island/park preservation fees).

Medicines, vapes and banned items

Strict rules on goods; declare anything prohibited/taxable. Dual Brazilian nationals must enter and leave on their Brazilian passport.

Travelling with children

Brazilian (incl. dual national) minors need authorisation from both parents to travel without them; non-Brazilian minors travelling with one parent or others should carry the birth certificate and notarised parental consent, as Federal Police sometimes delay them.

Your checklist, with the dates it is due

NUM builds it for your passport and your travel dates: the authorisation and when to apply, the arrival card and the day it opens, what to carry at the border, your own country's exit rules, and a calendar file for every deadline.

Every document here is issued by a government, and the official link is the only place to get it. Most arrival cards and many authorisations are free. NUM is not a visa service and cannot apply for anything. Rules change without notice: the official page always has the final word.
