Verified means NUM read it on a government page on 10–11 Oct 2026. Likely means a reputable source says it and one official page agreed. Not checked yet means NUM could not confirm it: use the official page. Fees are as published on that date and can change.

For every visitor

The rules everyone meets at the border

Passport

Carry 6 months' validity. FCDO (reviewed 19 Aug 2026): expiry at least 3 months after arrival. State Dept (Jun 2025): at least 6 months at entry. Canada: 6 months beyond the date you leave. Irish DFA: 6 months from entry. Airlines may apply the stricter rule. German FO (11 Oct 2026): 6 months at entry. Netherlands Worldwide (Jul 2026): valid for the whole stay. Safe standard: 6 months beyond the day you leave.

Arrival card

No arrival card for most visitors.

Border systems for every visitor

No Morocco-wide authorization for the visa-exempt nationalities in this dataset (US, CA, UK, IE, AU entry confirmed visa-free for up to 90 days). Non-exempt nationals need a consular visa or the electronic visa on the official portal acces-maroc.ma. Morocco also runs an electronic travel authorisation (AEVM), reportedly used for some African nationalities; none of our 33 passports appear in the secondary-source AEVM list (unverified).

Travel insurance

Not an entry requirement per FCDO, State Dept, Canada or Smartraveller; NZ SafeTravel strongly recommends insurance incl. medical evacuation.

Vaccinations

FCDO: polio vaccination certificate needed if arriving from a polio-affected country. Canada: no yellow fever proof required (no risk in Morocco). State Dept: none.

Cash to declare at customs

Declare foreign currency worth MAD 100,000 or more (about GBP 8,000) on entry and exit (FCDO, Smartraveller); State Dept says 'Declare 100,000 dirhams or USD 10,000'. The dirham is a closed, non-convertible currency, and taking dirhams out of Morocco is illegal (State Dept, Canada, Smartraveller). Change leftover dirhams back before leaving, at the airport, with your original exchange receipts. No official dirham import allowance was found.

Medicines, vapes and banned items

Drones: Canada says 'Drones and surveillance equipment are prohibited and will be confiscated by the authorities upon entry.' FCDO and Smartraveller say you need approval (FCDO: from the Directorate General for Civil Aviation) before bringing or flying one, or risk fines and confiscation. State Dept: customs strictly regulates temporary import of drones. Treat drones as banned unless you hold prior authorisation. Non-Islamic religious material is prohibited except for personal use (Canada). Pornography is illegal (FCDO, Canada). Cannabis carries severe penalties (FCDO). Some medicines are unavailable or illegal: bring your prescription and a doctor's letter (Smartraveller).

Travelling with children

A single parent travelling with children may need a letter from the other parent authorising the trip; carry the children's birth certificates or copies (Smartraveller). Under Moroccan law parents may stop their children leaving Morocco (Canada). Children of a Moroccan father are Moroccan citizens and may have trouble leaving (State Dept, Canada).

Changes

What changed, and what is coming

  • 2026-08-19 · In force FCDO review of the Morocco advice. Its entry page now gives a 3-month passport validity rule (State Dept, Canada and the Irish DFA still say 6 months) and a foreign-currency declaration threshold of MAD 100,000. Source
  • 2026-07-20 · In force Morocco suspended acceptance of visa confirmation letter (VCL) applications for Taiwan (ROC) passport holders; letters issued earlier remain usable within their validity. Source

Your checklist, with the dates it is due

NUM builds it for your passport and your travel dates: the authorisation and when to apply, the arrival card and the day it opens, what to carry at the border, your own country's exit rules, and a calendar file for every deadline.

Every document here is issued by a government, and the official link is the only place to get it. Most arrival cards and many authorisations are free. NUM is not a visa service and cannot apply for anything. Rules change without notice: the official page always has the final word.
