Verified means NUM read it on a government page on 10–11 Oct 2026. Likely means a reputable source says it and one official page agreed. Not checked yet means NUM could not confirm it: use the official page. Fees are as published on that date and can change.
The rules everyone meets at the border
Passport
Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival (FCDO; official eVisa terms). Safe standard: 6 months left on the day you arrive.
Arrival card
No arrival card for most visitors.
Border systems for every visitor
Every visitor except GCC citizens needs a visa or authorization before entry. Main routes: tourist eVisa (68 nationalities on the official list, plus holders of used US/UK/Schengen visas, US/UK/EU permanent residents and GCC residents); since 1 Jul 2026 an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for UK citizens; a single-entry electronic visa waiver listed by FCDO for UK citizens; Hajj needs a separate Hajj visa via Nusuk.
Onward ticket
Not stated by FCDO or US State Dept for tourists. Electronic visa waiver applicants must give flight details (FCDO).
Travel insurance
Required. Mandatory medical insurance is bundled into the tourist eVisa fee (cover up to SAR 100,000 per FCDO; FCDO advises extra cover). The UK ETA and electronic visa waiver do not include insurance.
Vaccinations
Yellow fever certificate if arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission risk (get it at least 10 days before travel). Meningococcal quadrivalent (ACWY) certificate required for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and seasonal workers.
Cash to declare at customs
Declare cash, bearer negotiable instruments, gold, precious metals, gemstones and jewellery worth SAR 40,000 or more (or equivalent) on entry or exit, by land, sea or air; show purchase invoices for gold/jewellery. Threshold lowered from SAR 60,000 in mid-2026. Declare via the ZATCA app/website or customs counters. Fines 10-25% of value for a first offence, up to 50% for repeat.
Taxes, levies and fees
Tourist eVisa: SAR 300 visa fee plus processing fee and mandatory insurance (commonly ~SAR 535 total); fee non-refundable if refused. No separate tourist entry tax found.
Medicines, vapes and banned items
Many common prescription medicines need prior approval: register them on the Controlled Drug System (CDS) before travel (can take weeks). Drones are generally illegal. Alcohol, pork products, narcotics and pornography are prohibited. Satellite phones, radio transmitters and recording devices may need licences; religious books beyond personal use need approval.
Travelling with children
Carry each child's birth certificate; if only one parent travels, bring custody/marriage/divorce documents. Children who are Saudi citizens (including dual nationals) generally need their father's consent to leave; children of residents may need a male guardian's permission to exit.

Your checklist, with the dates it is due
NUM builds it for your passport and your travel dates: the authorisation and when to apply, the arrival card and the day it opens, what to carry at the border, your own country's exit rules, and a calendar file for every deadline.
Every document here is issued by a government, and the official link is the only place to get it. Most arrival cards and many authorisations are free. NUM is not a visa service and cannot apply for anything. Rules change without notice: the official page always has the final word.
