Verified means NUM read it on a government page on 10–11 Oct 2026. Likely means a reputable source says it and one official page agreed. Not checked yet means NUM could not confirm it: use the official page. Fees are as published on that date and can change.

For every visitor

The rules everyone meets at the border

Passport

At least 6 months remaining from the date of arrival (FCDO, US State Dept); Canada says 6 months beyond your expected departure, so allow for that. Enter and exit on the same passport; damaged passports have led to refused entry or exit. Taiwan MOFA notes a visa's validity must end at least 30 days before the passport expires. Safe standard: 6 months beyond the day you leave.

Arrival card

Digital pre-arrival declaration (Tan Son Nhat airport, Ho Chi Minh City). Before arrival: no earlier than 3 days before (US State Dept) / up to 48 hours before or on arrival (Irish DFA). Official advice differs: FCDO (updated 21 Sep 2026) says it is encouraged since 15 Apr 2026 but not currently mandatory and may be extended to other airports at short notice; US State Dept says air arrivals must complete it; Singapore MFA and Irish DFA say it is required for Tan Son Nhat. Complete it to be safe; you receive a QR code to show at immigration. Transit passengers are exempt (Singapore MFA). Fee: Free.

Border systems for every visitor

None. No ETA scheme; visitors are either visa-exempt or need an e-Visa/visa.

Onward ticket

Not specified by FCDO. Airlines may ask visa-exempt passengers for a return or onward ticket within the permitted stay.

Proof of funds

No published amount for tourists.

Travel insurance

Not an entry requirement.

Vaccinations

No routine vaccination required for entry. Yellow fever certificate expected only from travellers arriving from yellow fever risk countries; check TravelHealthPro or CDC.

Cash to declare at customs

Declare cash over VND 15,000,000 or USD 5,000 (or equivalent) on arrival. Leaving with more than these amounts needs confirmation from an authorised credit institution or State Bank of Vietnam approval. Declare medicines if their total import value exceeds USD 100.

Taxes, levies and fees

No tourist entry tax found in official advice. e-Visa fee: USD 25 single entry / USD 50 multiple entry (up to 90 days), unchanged in the fee schedule of Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC (in force 1 Apr 2026) as reproduced by a legal database; the official e-Visa portal shows the fee only at payment and says fees are not refunded if the visa is refused.

Medicines, vapes and banned items

Vapes and related products are banned: you cannot buy them in Vietnam or bring them into the country (FCDO). Carry prescription medicines in hand luggage with a copy of the prescription; declare medicines if their total import value exceeds USD 100. Drones need prior permits.

Travelling with children

No Vietnam-specific consent form found in official guidance checked; carry a birth certificate and consent letter from any absent parent.

Your checklist, with the dates it is due

NUM builds it for your passport and your travel dates: the authorisation and when to apply, the arrival card and the day it opens, what to carry at the border, your own country's exit rules, and a calendar file for every deadline.

Every document here is issued by a government, and the official link is the only place to get it. Most arrival cards and many authorisations are free. NUM is not a visa service and cannot apply for anything. Rules change without notice: the official page always has the final word.
